Our 2012 honoree is former Charlotte Catholic High School principal Sister Mary Rosalind Picôt. Sister Rosalind was missioned to Charlotte Catholic High School in 1958, where she taught mostly French and science. In 1967, she became principal of Our Lady of Mercy High School for one year until 1968 when the two schools, OLM and CCHS were re-united and called Charlotte Catholic High School. After serving as Vice-Principal for one year, she was named Principal in 1969 and served in that capacity until 1980. Today, Sister Rosalind assists the Sisters of Mercy’s sponsored ministries in North Carolina through education and the promotion of mission integration throughout the entire operation of each ministry, including boards of directors, administration and staff. She also gives service in various ways to the Sisters who live in the Belmont community at Sacred Heart Convent and to the newly formed South Central Community.
